- Many people know the Internet in China is growing rapidly since last year.
- Early this year, the Chinese government decided to regulate the Internet in
- China to prevent material that whould "harm the country" as well as porn
- from coming in via the Net. I'm told by a friend of mine who is based in
- Beijing that BTA, the largest Chinese ISP owned by the government is going
- to secure their system and no shell accounts will be available. The admins
- at BTA said their servers (public.bta.net.cn and public3.bta.net.cn) is
- untouchable and all potential hacking will be caught in no time. They
- started phone tracing for their dial-up access number (86-10-6306-2266) so
- all calls made by the local users will be logged and checked when needed. As
- for hackers from outside China, zhangxy@public.bta.net.cn calls himself the
- Shimomura in China and he is tough... NO CARRIER
